HTA STEM Day
Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. Dallas Office | Dallas, TX
HTA hosted Sam Houston Middle School on May 18th, 2012 to kick off our pilot “STEM” program for local schools. Fifteen students from Sam Houston’s AVID program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) attended the morning event to get a taste of what life would be like at the cutting edge of technology.
Our objective was best summarized by Jessica Alaniz (AVID counselor): “For our students to have an opportunity to gain insight into careers that relate to STEM, understand what it takes to be successful as an individual in the workplace, and be engaged in activities that involve hands on learning.”
We introduced Sales, Demonstration lab, SEM, Supply Chain, and Field Service Engineering by explaining the business purpose, providing hands on experience, and sharing what it takes in terms of education and experience to be successful. The students had a great day out.
